I think they are doing a miserable job in the US it seems but from what I read all hotel chains are the same with reluctance to upgrade, offering only coffee and a muffin for breakfast, keeping lounges closed etc. But then it’s so easy to be Platinum there with most of you getting up to 25 nights on credit cards. You only have to stay another 13 nights (under double night promotion) and you’re over the line! In other parts of the world we need to do it the hard way but we get nice lounges with enough to make a dinner and big buffet breakfast, not to mention the alcohol (we get Marriott points for alcoholic beverages here too). And some of you get invited to events which are primarily for all the managers to stand on the stage, show off their credentials in front of their bosses and propose a champagne toast to celebrate Marriott’s success which means how much they’ve Bonvoyed you!
