Having not flown in NCW with BA at all yet, I really cannot comment on that cabin. However, it is nice and quiet in the nose of a 747 in FIRST so maybe that is an option....?

On a more serious note in terms of the upper deck on a 747, I wouldn't say it was anymore noisy than a 757, for example. I used to fly KLM's World Business Class a lot to the US and Singapore upstairs on their 747-300/400's and I would argue it was the second best place on the whole aircraft to sit.

Try BA again in NCW, you may find it completely different with your experience being a one-off occurence...
