Misrepresentation is fraud.
I'm going to be ridiculous here, but I don't see anywhere in T&C that this is specified.

Is it fraud to open up a AAdvantage in a dog's name if they reside at a residence? I didn't see anywhere that a AAdvantage member must be human? Maybe it's just implied?? You have to be a human to buy and fly on an airline ticket but you don't need to buy a ticket or fly to be a AAdvantage member.

If you then receive a mailer that has no language or protections against another Aadvantage member using it, AND you use 100% accurate information with Citi for the credit card is this fraud? It only asked to type a code in and then you can enter whatever applicant information is required. In my case I had a real human being who didn't want another CC being sent mailers.

Someone in a later comment said this whole thing was more about abuse of the program in many cases than actual fraud. I agree that yeah some parties may interpret this as abuse, and according to the T&C American Airlines can pretty much say anything they want is abuse of the program. This is why I hope the courts and/or lawmakers start taking closer looks at these programs.

American Airlines did not make money flying last year, but they made money on the FF program. This must be one of the largest and most profitable industries with next to zero regulation or consumer protections out there. I hope Citi gets drug into this as well and they go against each other. Citi should be held more responsible for lack of diligence than many of the affected end users imo.
