If you start in Z you can go through passport control to enter A, use the tunnel to get to B Schengen and then passport control to get to B non-Schengen. It makes the most sense for those who can use the eGates (EU passports, DE permanent residents etc etc).
It does not work in the other direction because the B passport control for Schengen entry is outside security.
These days there is a bus that will get you between Z and B non-Schengen while staying clean but it doesn't run all day or when they have staffing issues.
I will arrive to AEU or Z (from the UK) and connect either to B20+ or Z for a non EU flight. Do I need to go through security?
If you need Z to B non-Schengen just follow the signs. If the bus is running they'll point you to Z11 where you go down to it.
