I have just flown LHR-HKG-SYD-HKG-LHR on CX in J.
  • The seats are neither entirely flat nor horizontal and I'm over 6ft and kept sliding down them. Did get some sleep though.
  • Haven't done NCW so don't know about catering but I suspect CX is better
  • Drinks probably comparable. Plenty of refills from full-sized wine bottles during the meal
  • I like the fact that CX offers champagne before take-off
  • Lighting OK although was annoyed by lights from the galley on one segment - the curtain seemed to get opened and closed every five minutes
  • CX cabin staff refer to you by name which is always a nice touch
  • bathroom facilities probably comparable; got a little bag with toiletries but nothing special
  • blankets and pillows nothing to write home about
  • CX are unlikely to upgrade passengers therefore you are more likely to have a quieter cabin
  • Audio and Video on Demand (AVOD) and noise-cancelling headphones are excellent - plenty of top films that you can pause, rewind, fast forward, plus games - I got quite good at Pokemon! Very good if travelling with children, as I was
