Now that we have reports with both the current LP levels and the “gap” buyup offers, seems like it is somewhat random (though always skewing to high/unreasonable $/miles).

I should point out that United’s offers seem almost as inconsistent. However given that the currency with United is only PQP, the $ asks there are much harder to achieve than with AA and LPs.
