This happened to me on a recent flight. No one came by to greet/confirm pre-order choice/ask for appetizer choice. Then when the tray was plonked down in front of me I saw that they had the Thai beef appetizer. I asked if I could get the Burrata instead, the FA said “you should have told us that earlier” upon which I told her “I would have if someone had asked me”. She then reluctantly went back and swapped out the appetizer.

My neighbor who also had preordered had the Burrata so it seems they randomly just plop down an appetizer.

And speaking of bread baskets, out of the past 6 legs I’ve had, only seen a bread basket for the pre-arrival meal for one of those flights.

However on this recent flight, I noticed that the bread rolls were different. For instance mine had the multigrain roll, whereas my neighbor had a pretzel roll. So perhaps they do have bread baskets but the FA are too lazy and instead just randomly plop a roll down on the tray and hope no one notices.
