We stayed at the Hyatt Grand Central in 2023 as a Globalist. The Club did have beers and snacks. Our free breakfast was the buffet on the first floor. Each of us got a $10 or $15 F&B credit each day which can be used at the snack bar in the lobby. I believe it's a part of the "resort fee" scheme even though the fee is waived for the Globalists. The line at the snack bar can be long since every guest gets the same credit and everyone wants to use it each day. If I remember correctly, the snack bar and the club closed fairly early even for an early bird like me. I think between the F&B credits and the club access, you son might enjoy the stay. It's true that facility is a dated but the location is superb.

If the reservation is for two, he might get twice the F&B credits.
