Probably a more ideal technical spot to have a broken 789, than sending it to POM. Can’t imagine POM being very well equipped to repair and broken 787. Atleast GUM will have a UA Engineer base there, that should be able to support a 789.
As Guam is USA territory wonder how they handled ESTA/visas. May be some passengers who would not be eligible for a USA ESTA/visa.
