Basically, I was trying to avoid dealing with intangibles as much as possible, and just focusing on "discounting" tangible items.
I believe you can use the code for XTRASEAT (or whatever it is) with the Companion Cert.
Assuming you can find a flight that works for you where the companion cert CAN be used (I usually get the crap red-eye or 23 hour flight, or have to book 10-12 months in advance)
