When I switched it to a multi-city VCT-IAH and IAH-YQU the price suddenly was showing 810 CAD. The routing is identical, including the 59 minute connections between the "tickets". This is on united.com and not some hack travel agency. Obviously no checked luggage because 59 minutes to collect, recheck luggage, and clear security is not enough. Just curious if anyone has ever tried this and how it worked for them.
It works fine. It's completely indistinguishable from a connection -- there's no need to avoid checking luggage. You're still buying one ticket from VCT to YQU. It's just a... uh... beneficial glitch in their pricing logic.
