I stayed here for a few nights recently and because the hotel sort of has a thread of its own, I thought I'd add some comments:
- It is a very pretty hotel. The standard rooms are a bit small, but otherwise it really is a beautiful hotel. The restaurant building in particular is often photographed from the street as it's probably the nicest building in Luang Prabang
- It is in the absolute centre of Luang Prabang, opposite the "night market" (tourist food court) and about 200m away from Amantaka
- F&B is somewhat limited - breakfast is decent with a mix of buffet, a la carte and chef with noodles/ omelettes, but there's just the one dining option throughout the day and the ability to call staff at a bar by the pool
- I thought service was very good, with selective Aman touches (e.g. "We'd like to offer you an upgraded room, but let's show you both and you can pick"). At least one staff member spent a long time at the Belmond. Oddly though, many guests had problems with the service and seemed to be angry a lot of the time. My assessment is that they're lacking in quality of guests, though it is true that staff: guest ratio and quality of English is not going to be as high as at the Aman
- Value for money felt very good. I wanted something one level below the multiple $1,000+ hotels in Luang Prabang which this hotel qualified as, and only set me back $280++ per night

I would recommend for someone interested in LP and not having the budget for one of the true luxury hotels. You make some compromises (mainly in room size/ design), but honestly not so many.
