- Scenario 1: One room booked entirely with points and the other with cash. At check-in, do I simply need to ensure that my benefits (currently platinum) are tied to the room paid for in cash to get the double night credit? Is there anything else I need to do to ensure they don't mark me as staying in the "points" room?
- Scenario 2: For an 8 night stay, assume I make two separate bookings. One for the first 5 nights under points (to get the 5th night free) and a second for the final 3 days in cash. Given the final 3 are in cash, would I still get double credit for the final 3 nights or because it is a continuous stay (but with two separate reservations) Marriott would count the entire stay as cash and points?
Thanks for any help
Scenario 2 is clearly TWO bookings, one on points therefore not qualify. The remaining 3 nights on cash hence you get 1K + 1 elite night x 3. No, Marriott would not treat this as Point plus Cash, because a Point + Cash is a SINGLE booking.
Scenario 1 should still work when you book the point redemption for other persons even from your account. But they may not get any elite benefit you are entitled to. You book the other room with cash rate and all nights are qualified paid nights. Though admittedly, this could be tricky due to property needs to be on top of things and do not mess you up. I would think you make the point booking with telephone agent, specifically inform the agent the points coming out from your account but is for another person. IIRC Marriott allows points used to book room for others. It is the FN cert must be used by account owner.
