I mean, we are basically talking about pressing the call button once every 45 minutes. I hardly see the excess in this. In some airlines, the call bell is unnecessary, as the cabin crew constantly check on pax to ensure nothing is needed. On other airlines, they leave you alone, expecting you to use the call bell (or IFE menu etc.) when you want something.
The US carriers seem to have found a middle ground where they believe the call bell is unnecessary while also leaving you alone.
Does the Delta 1 amenity kit no longer have ear plugs? Surely that should be sufficient if the sound of the bell bothers you and you don't want to wear noise cancelling headphones...
