So, yes, you’re right he’s probably not used to what standards J have fallen to. I can relate.
All the same, I’d have just slouched it off, or walked to the galley if I really wanted something that’s on my Second Class ticket with an airline that has eliminated First Class but still finds a clever way to use the numeral 1.
Personally, I'd question the judgement of any "experienced flyer" choosing a US carrier for a premium cabin on an 11 hour international flight, but I'm sympathetic to those who've been saving their credit card points for a decade having no choice.
