Since 1A and 1F are slightly larger, my guess is that individuals booking those seats was strictly out for the extra few sq ft. I would stay with you 2A and 2F seats for one simple reason... if you monitor seat availability regularly and find either seat 1A or 1F becomes available, then you can simply move yourself or your partner to that seat and have the combinable suite arrangement.... If you do a row 2 and 3 strategy, you potentially limit yourself to only if the one specific Row 1 seat opens up (presumes someone else has grabbed the other Row 2 seat you did not grab)
Also, I don't believe the partition between Row 2 and Row 3 seats can be lowered, so you won't be able see you partner and hence won't have "next" to my partner experience.
