I find this thread a bit funny, and way out of keeping with my experience. I would never know that the looping movies weren't working. I cringe every time I'm getting on a plane and see the DirecTV sticker by the door. I would certainly rather be in the front row of coach than in first on any DirecTV bird. Mostly I hate the seats, which seem to all be broken and worn out and make my back and backside hurt like no other seat in the fleet. The level of recline (which seems to be part of the broken, when one side collapses further) makes it almost impossible to work on my laptop when the person in front reclines. And am I imagining that the seatbelts are shorter on these planes? I am a big guy, but I fit completely in every coach and first class seat (42 inch waist). Most of the fleet I have 8 or 10" of seatbelt tail after I fasten. On these planes it seems like I consistently have almost none.
I also find nothing pleasing about the DirecTV system. The screen is so small and so low definition, the controller is slow and unresponsive, and content is hard to find and select. When I get on a DirecTV plane I usually just put it on the flight map (the worst flight map in the system) and leave it there. Unless there's a big game I want to watch in the worst way (and I do mean the worst way), I would much rather watch something on my phone or tablet.
I will be happy when they get reconfigured. Which just goes to show you we are each pleased and upset by different things.
