Dealt with some kafka-esque service from Amex the last 6 months trying to get the hotel credit for 2023 sorted out. For some reason my hotel credit for 2023 immediately showed as being used up, which I called about last August and was told it was a system error, but that I would likely need to call again in the future to make sure I got credited properly for 2023 and that there was nothing they could do until then. Made a THC reservation in December 2023 which obviously never credited properly, so I called Amex again in the beginning of January 2024 and was told by phone I should have gotten the credit, that my account would be notated, and to call back one week later by which time they could manually credit the account.
In the meantime, I realized I would not be able to make this trip, and canceled the booking. Immediately the next day I was re-debited the $200 credit, even though I was never credited it in the first place. Calling in today was another nightmare, on the phone for almost an hour with a rep claiming this re-debit had nothing to do with this latest reservation and had something to do with a reservation from back in 2022. Wasted so much of my time forcing me to go through a million credits and debits from the last 2 years trying to convince me that I wasn't counting properly. Finally had enough of him and asked for a supervisor. The supervisor was giving me the exact same spiel until I reminded her that the August 2023 rep that I called had said he notated the issue with my 2023 credit, and suddenly she was magically able to credit the account manually.
