I am not sure if there is a more recent or general thread for this property, however I wanted to share that I enjoyed a fabulous stay here recently. I had almost forgotten about this property having not visited in some years, but friends had given it very high compliments, so I decided to return. From the moment I stepped out of the car on arrival, everything was pretty much seamless. I was escorted to the lounge for check in, upgraded to a Siam Suite as a titanium, and enjoyed a good few drinks and snacks in the lounge also!

The property is undeniably old, but in my view, very well preserved, and the room was very clean (as was the air con). The room also had a certain old world charm that I found quite sophisticated / relaxing … and I’d go so far to say the bed and pillows were some of the comfiest I’ve experienced in a long time (Sealy mattress as it turns out, I had to check!).

My one “complaint” would be that because of the open plan nature of the hotel, noise from the bar area does travel / echo and is noticeable in room, however the live singer etc ceased at 10.30pm. The level of service was sometimes verging on the “fawning over”, especially in the lounge, which personally I found a little awkward at times, but the sentiment was appreciated.

Given that the property is often priced considerably lower than others in the vicinity, I consider it to be a very good deal and will happily return … and I’m seriously considering purchasing the bed and pillows. I’d like to have some time to see what a standard club room looks like vs a suite on a future stay.
