Does anyone have suggestions for how to talk to an actual tech support person at United, or how to correct the problem myself? At first I though the issue was because I searched flights to USM (united.com doesn't support Samui airport), but then I bought a ticket somewhere else on my phone, which should have changed the default destination airport for my account, but the website still doesn't work for me.

Likely a temproray issue that will self-clear.
However, if you wish clear your United cookies. that also can clear up issues.
