I was able to get the regular dessert and cheese course. In fact, it was just offered as a matter of course as they wandered down the aisles for the regular meal passengers. I declined once as my wife and I shared a cheese plate (way too much food), and as I recall she was also given the option of some fruit that looked quite similar to my fruit dessert plate. I suspect YMMV based on how much the FAs think people will be eating. I also noticed a lot of people took one or the other.
