With the consulting companies, it could be because they have client information on their devices and think they should, or are obligated to, take extra precautions. I agree with those who say the U.S. perception of HK risk is likely way overblown. But I also wouldn’t go unless I absolutely had to and I don’t know what I’d do when faced with this question.
