Agree with this thread.
As I might have posted elsewhere (not sure), I used Allianz for a concert. I used points to book the flight (not cash), it snowed (in late May), so it was weather related failure.
Basically I could not go for what I intended, since it was impossible to have an outdoor concert in the snow.

Delta refunded the points, Allianz covered the tickets, and then the concert promoter cancelled the show (after initially delaying). I *could* have double-dipped, but that's insurance fraud.

One final note - my hotel was a no-fee cancel by 6pm day of arrival. But IHG hotels MANUALLY process cancellations, and attempted to bill a locked card at 2am.
If I had a more restrictive reservation (i.e. 48 hour cancellation) and the hotel had been successful, Allianz would have covered that...

HOWEVER... I also used Allianz for an award ticket to New Zealand. I chose to cancel, and lost the $68 insurance.
But they did send me a survey.
