I've just had this happen to me at the Le Meriden City Centre Doha. I got an email from them saying that I'd no-showed, and asking if I'd actually cancelled the reservation. I confirmed the cancellation number with them, and they responded :-
"Thank you for your swift response. We have noted that you cancelled your reservation online. We are pleased to confirm that there are no chargesd applicable." Of course, 2 days later the no-show charge appears. The hotel is not responding, so I complained via the Marriott Customer Services. The response was :-
"I have made a direct request in the matter to the Le Meridien City Center Doha, the property has the final say on refunds and payments, hence please await their response. "
I'll give it a few days... I'm hesitant to do a chargeback as I've heard about Marriott just cancelling accounts. I'd hate to lose my LTT status.
The hotel contacted me and said I'd get the refund within 14 business days. Guess what? No refund
I booked through the Marriott website, and paid through the Marriott website. Isn't the contract thus with Marriott, and they should be sorting out the refund? (rhetorical question
