I posted on here a month or so ago with something kind of similar. I was logged in and used Avios to reduce the price of a booking. The Avios were not deducted at the time of the booking.

I called BA as I was worried this would mean that my ticket would be cancelled. The agent I spoke to after calling You First assured me that the ticket was valid and would not be cancelled as I had paid. She thanked me for my honesty and said she would send the issue to another department and Avios should be deducted.

That was on 14th December and the Avios have still not been deducted. I’m not sure they ever will but who knows?!

I would just leave it and assume the Avios might go eventually so just act as if they have been deducted for the next few months and don’t “spend” then again until a significant amount of time has elapsed ?

Clearly there is some glitch going on which isn’t always automatically removing the Avios from accounts at the time of booking.
