w.r.t. trying to fly KUL-SIN-TYO-SFO, anyway, I was able to get the fare to come through. However, it's adding an extra ~$300 in YQ. Since I've never quite worked out where I can look in the fare rules to see what the YQ is, I basically had to do a side-by-side comparison of [FONT face=courier]f SIN f+[/FONT] vs. [FONT face=courier]f SIN o:nh+[/FONT] to see what changed.
If you look at the fare in ITA -- again, not in EF -- you'll also find surcharges written into the fare as follows (again, this is from the SFO fare):
So this probably explains the problems people have been getting trying to price HKG.
