My exact experience in J. I flew them 10 years ago on the A330 and they were amazing. Last year SYD-BEY-SYD was abysmal. Regional aircraft, namely the Embraers, are horrible but I think they are slowly retiring the 4 old (and I mean falling apart old) Embraer's for 8 new ones. I believe they have 2 new ones in the fleet already. They are also getting new A320 neo's and 6 789's - all not a moment too soon! The crew, esp on the 787, are terrible, disinterested, short and sharp. There is simply nothing premium at all about flying 'crown class' with RJ. The whole long haul experience means bare minimum service and once you deplane at your destination you feel like you've been nothing but a burden and crew are just relieved the flight is over.
