Not being diamond it is of little impact, but I did always wonder what the hotels think they’re offering as a benefit to guests who use the facility. After all, in most places you still have to go to reception to get your room key.
if I’m arriving late I always make a note on the reservation, and before online bookings someone would call in advance. Not a single late arrival issue in ~30 years.
Now were they to give some other benefit: wait free key collection like those Amazon delivery boxes, a little F&B credit, an extra room upgrade (ha ha ha) or just an extra free drink, they might get a little more take up of it.
