I think that’s exactly what is going to happen, especially if we look at the future integration with Eurobonus. Eurobonus Diamond is much closer to Ultimate than Platinum when it comes to qualification requirements and benefits, so eventually just like Delta’s SkyMiles Platinum will end up the second-highest tier. I think it was also stated clearly that Ultimate will become its own status above Platinum.

It’s also quite fair, if you compare the requirements to reach Platinum with any other European programme, it’s most probably the easiest to reach. And if you don’t regularly fly business class, it’s not even worth taking into consideration reaching that level at LHG, BA etc. However with FB it’s possible to reach Plat with just a few PE/J segments added in the mix, if you generally fly a lot (eg. roughly monthly).
