I’d rely on what the QF Manage Booking indicates for seating than on EF, as useful a tool as it is.
The only thing possibly to check is that you have an actual e-ticket number as well as a booking reference. There have been instances of a Travel Agent (or Airline) issuing a booking reference but ticketing is queued for days thru to many weeks.
I reached out to Qantas and they said they don’t know why it was blocked but said likely it was something behind the scenes and seat allocations would be available at check in.
Of course this is annoying as the whole point of seat selection in advance is to know where you are sitting on a long 15 hour’s flight, and as suspected we were moved from window seats to middle of the cabin at check in!
Then as we got to the airport in London I checked seats available and two window seats behind our original seats were available so booked them.
Even so it’s a little annoying that Qantas did that. I’m aware that they have the right to etc… but it didn’t really make much sense.
