In general, buying airfare 12 months in advance will rarely save you money. Maybe Christmas and major holidays/events are lone exceptions.

Normal people buying (way) advance usually have inflexible schedule. Airlines know this, and have no incentives to release discount/deep discounted fares to drive demand. There is a reason revenue management team at any airline play an important role...pricing for airfare is not static.
