I specifically used the word "rate" instead of "stay" for this reason. Incidental spend eligibility (and every line item on a folio) follows different rules and was not the topic of my response to the OP.
You missed the point. For a corporate event, I've gotten elite benefits and earned stay credit but no points for the cost of the room. As recently as last Feb. at Palace SF.
