I always book my stopovers with the initial booking even if i have no intention of flying the stopover. That way its already there and i can just change at will. For example I have LIM-IAD at the end of September and then I tacked on IAD-OGG in November. I have no intention of going to Maui in November but rather may of 2025. The calendar for may isn't close to opening yet so i'll change it when it opens. Much easier to do this than call in.

So i would book LAX-SCL and SCL-EZE online. Then change the SCL-EZE later if you want.
