They haven’t tried. They could make it work in HK for sure but it’s not as attractive as making it work all over the mainland so they’ll wait.

Just read an article the other day about Sam’s in Shenzhen being frequented by HK people.

Costco in China of course accepts cash and wechat Alipay.
