I actually liked and got used to using Weixin and Alipay for everything. Will try to use it in other countries if possible.
I'll be surprised if your visitor version of Alipay or Wechat Pay can be used outside China. Even our HK version isn't generally (I have an onshore version, but I had to to jump through additional hoops to open it in Hong Kong. Also conditional on me not having my Home Return Permit taken from me).
