Had the same thing happen to me. Was "upgraded" AMS-ATL to a seat the purser was told would be empty because it was inoperable. When I asked for my original PS seat back, they'd given it up. I ended up camped out in the last row of coach for part of the flight just to try and get some sleep. I think 5k miles was the 'apology' + some e-credit.
