If you paid the cash component with a credit card then it's worth checking if they offer any coverage. From experience I've had an evening flight from Seoul to Tokyo delayed to the following afternoon because of a typhoon. They clearly stated in the notification email not to come to the airport and that hotel/alternative travel arrangements would be at my own cost. In the end my credit card insurance covered the extra hotel night (at the walk up rate) along with the change fee to put me on the following evening's flight (Amex Platinum).
