Stayed here recently as a Globalist. Despite there being plenty of suites, view speciality and speciality rooms available at checkin, this property did not want to upgrade me to more than a high-up regular king room. They kept saying that the upgrade benefit did not apply at Hyatt Place. I said I know this is accurate but I asked them why their booking email stated a custom property message that globalists would be upgraded to highest category room available at checkin. They repeated the policy that Hyatt Place hotels did not have to upgrade globalists but after 10seconds more of back and forth, they said they would upgrade me to a specialty king on a low floor but stressed that this was a "one-time exception".
I get the policy for Hyatt Place's but I thought this hotel was known for going above and beyond that for globalists. Why do they specifically say they will upgrade globalists at this property in the booking email if they don't want to?
Overall in this, and other dealings, I did not find the reception staff to be very friendly at this property. Very unlike the experience you get at most chain hotels in Thailand/Asia. The room was nice though and I do really like the bar at this property. Unsure now if I would stay here again.
