And does anyone have any thoughts on when really is the best time of the year to go, or is it just a complete gamble?
We went to the Conrad in late November 2019 and it howled it down for 3 of our 8 days, and the fourth day was very much a blustery day as it cleared up. I was talking to one of the Maldivian bar staff and he was saying that the 'traditional' seasons haven't really been that way for a few years due to global warming and such. He recommended June, which should be monsoon season but he said the past couple of years had been lovely in June.
So, cut to 2022 and we did the WA in June, and it was absolutely glorious for the entire stay. BUT, the staff were saying that the previous month the weather was so bad at one point guests couldn't leave the island.
It's also worth remembering that due to the nature of the archipelago, it's perfectly possible for one person to be having glorious weather at the Conrad, and it be lashing down at the WA.
Ultimately, there are no guarantees with Maldives weather any more. The traditional seasons are nothing like as clean cut as they once were.
