FWIW, somebody who doesn't travel much sleeps in their own bed 365 nights per year and probably doesn't throw away their mattress every 10 years (based on some supposed "best before" date).

A hotel bed actually gets used less because no hotel is 100% full every night of the year. Of course, one does have to worry about previous guests having behaved inappropriately, such as removing mattress protectors...
