Jokes aside, if you read the post by Hilton Outsider who listed all the rates that are Bonvoy earning, you'll see that Conventions/Concur wouldn't be part of that. Again, Marriott is being VERY clear that the only rates that earn points are those that are made through their own booking channels. Concur and Convention rates will almost NEVER be Marriott earning because those rate are often owned and uploaded by MGM. Also, if the rates are already loaded for this convention, that means there's no possible chance Marriott had anything to do with them.
FWIW, I have almost never booked direct with a casino company when visiting Vegas. My channels have usually been Amex FHR, concur, or a convention website. Maybe I have booked direct once or twice. There is a big pool of similar customers. We will actually see if these popular booking methods do not earn points
Very good point, and the caveat to my last post was that I was talking primarily about Leisure travelers. For business travelers (like yourself), they will be booking negotiated convention rates, negotiated bookings made directly with the hotel through a sales/marketing department, or through Concur. Again though. those will be owned by MGM. MGM is not going to allow a 3rd party to own commissionable rates for their own properties on booking channels they typically own themselves (it would defeat the purpose of the partnership). We already know these won't earn points based on what has already been stated on qualifying rate terms.
