Just a continuation about what I posted earlier, my situation is much more complicated. In fact, out of the 15 cards I purchased only one activated properly, and it was the first one they scanned, and it did NOT have the "24 hours...." underneath, yet it still activated and is showing a balance. I also had a card that did not activate on the spot to the clerk that DID have the "24 hours" language (one of the four refunded on the spot). The rest of my cards that did not activate DID have the "24 hours" so there is no consistency here. My guess is that the screen only showed 4 of my 14 that didn't activate on like the first page, and the others that didn't activate may have not been visible or required another click for the rep. I'll have to go back but it seems as though corporate has given the store reps the ability to process refunds on the spot as 4 of my 14 duds were done at the store. Further, there is no real way to see if your cards are activated without going to the website or calling in, as the "24 hours" stuff is hit or miss as to whether it actually activated from what I've just discovered. I've also never had a card that activated where it wasn't instant from OD, so no need to wait. I probably won't be doing the full boat 15 cards with Visa anytime soon, but it was convenient and I've done it a dozen times with MCGC I bet with no issues. I can't understand why their point of sale system let's the sale go through without a confirmed activation, that seems like a bug that's worth it to figure out. I've probably had 5 gift cards in my life have activation issues out of thousands of gift cards the last decade, so to have 14 out of 15 on a transaction is alarming.
