Why would you anticipate earning Marriott points? Everything posted about the relationship is telling you everything to the contrary. On top of that, the Marriott-MGM relationship isn't live yet - which means ANY rates in your convention website for MGM hotels have a 0% chance of being Marriott controlled. You're not earning Marriott points for MGM hotels for that convention, so you might as well choose the Westin if you need the Marriott credit.
