You’re not misremembering; before the drastic MUA changes, it was 40K (or maybe 45K?) SkyMiles for an MUA on VS. I did an MUA from Premium to Upperclass on VS for ATL-MAN last August and prior to that, in pre-Covid years, did a couple of such upgrades on VS.

Actually, I was misremembering - It used to be only 25K SkyMiles for an MUA on VS; it was less than MUAs on DL or other partners.
