There's really no risk for status or seats. You input your AA# in the booking then it should show up at aa.com in your account, you'll get all of your usual status benefits.

Mileage earning is a different story, a package will most likely post as a special fare so your earning will be via distance and booking code. You just have to do the math to see how much or little you would earn.

And AA Vacations will probably offer a similar package deal however just be warned that the AA Vacations earning has been gutted.
