Had it not been this way round since they moved both JFK to HND a few years back?
I think there's a LAX-NRT also to facilitate connections and connection time is only ard 1.5 hours. (actually, most of your examples were only ard 3 hours so not exactly 5 hours you said)

NRT has better intl connection than HND in general
