You need to be logged in to your QR account to avail of either of those. Just as you would need to be logged in to your BAEC account if you wanted to book at BA and avail of any redemption or part pay options they may offer.
If you book a cash ticket through BA (whether reduced with avios or not), your ticket is issued by BA and is not eligible for Discover Qatar.
The multicity ticket may be available if you search via google flights, skyscanner or your favourite other comparison site. If your search throws up BA or QR amongst the online travel agents, you may then still be able to part pay with avios, subject to the conditions linked to above.
Thanks! I have been logged in but I'll try now to transfer other 500 Avios at least. I have tried and downloaded the QR app, and interestingly I get the option to pay with Avios and it shows the total amount of avios (the ones still in BA + the ones I've transferred to QR) correctly. Only thing with the app is that they don't allow multicity with more than 2 flights - however I could book it doing a multicity (LHR - DOH - CAN) and a one way (CAN - LHR, which will have a stopover). Only thing is that the one way will be billed in CNY so I'd have to pay the foreign transaction fee on my credit card.
Will try also and search on ITA Matrix for best fare... it's interesting though that the app works while the website doesn't. I hope their service is better than their website!
