I checked the Discover Qatar website and while booking you have to provide the 125- ticket number, would I get that number if I were to book on BA website on QR metal?
Interestingly if I try to book the multi city and I enter my BA Executive Club number, I get a warning saying that they couldn't fetch my Executive Club status. Wonder if that's why I don't see pay with avios option.

The minimum avios for a cash plus avios fare is 1,250. Here are all of the details:

You need to be logged in to your QR account to avail of either of those. Just as you would need to be logged in to your BAEC account if you wanted to book at BA and avail of any redemption or part pay options they may offer.
If you book a cash ticket through BA (whether reduced with avios or not), your ticket is issued by BA and is not eligible for Discover Qatar.
The multicity ticket may be available if you search via google flights, skyscanner or your favourite other comparison site. If your search throws up BA or QR amongst the online travel agents, you may then still be able to part pay with avios, subject to the conditions linked to above.
