Sheraton Hua Ting it was. I discussed this with one of my suppliers today, he says it was in Xuhei district.

And the timeline that James Luckard gave fits my memories - mid 80's until the Westin Tai Pin Yang opened.

Thanks all. Now maybe I'll try to pay the Hua Ting a visit tomorrow for nostalgia's sake.
