I don't doubt your experience, but as I have stated before, the UA phone agents in Australia seem to be more open to waitlisting. Of the few agents that refused to waitlist, most stated that they would be willing to waitlist
if the ticket was a mixed-cabin and the (dynamic) price had already been charged.
Regardless, I totally agree that waitlisting is not going to be around for much longer and will be officially eliminated once someone at UA updates the
Award Travel and the
Premier Award travel pages.
